Presence. Exploration. Interdependence.

My name is Sam Blackwell (he/they). It’s great to meet you.

As a consultant, I work with individuals, teams, and organizations to help find out where equity and justice can show up in your life and work. My goal is for folks to see themselves and their power in dismantling systems of oppression in themselves, the places they live, and the places they work.

As a white, queer, non-binary person, this work is deeply important to me, and my values drive my work — that’s why they’re listed at the top of this page. My commitment to presence keeps me grounded in this moment and in relationship with clients, asking, “What can we can we try right now?” My passion for exploration helps me remember to be a constant learner, to stay curious, to ask before assuming. And my understanding of interdependence means I don’t do this work alone - and I don’t expect you to, either. I’m incredibly grateful to the mentors and leaders who have made me a better practitioner and continue to support me.

I’m a skilled public speaker and an experienced coach and facilitator. I’ve coached and trained racially and gender diverse groups of folks across many different sectors including local non-profits, large public universities, and national architecture firms, from CEOs and Executive Directors to entry-level employees, from folks with 40 years of experience to six months. I am also a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory. In addition to doing this work, I’ve worked for over a decade in non-profit and philanthropy to support and grow solutions to homelessness that are focused on people, their experiences, and their cultures.

Outside of this work, I co-host Just Break Up, a podcast that offers people relationship advice that is grounded in mental health, radical self-love, antiracism, queerness, and sex positivity.
